Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office?

Here’s the address:

49 Park Street
Suite 100 (first floor)
Montclair, NJ 07042

How long is a typical session?
Sessions run 45-50 minutes.
What is the no-cost initial phone consultation?
I offer free consultations (~15 minutes) to determine whether my skills meet your needs.
Who is your perfect client?

My perfect client is an individual or couple who wants to grow, heal, and transform and is looking for support along the way.

I provide counseling for adults (18+) who reside in New Jersey.

My expertise is in grief counseling, anxiety and stress, self-worth, life transitions, perfectionism, and infertility.

Do you prescribe medication?

No, I am not a medical doctor.

Many of my patients find medication helpful, but many of them also progress well in therapy without medication.

If you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, it’s best to contact your primary care physician or a psychiatrist. If you are already taking medication, I can coordinate care with your doctor.

Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?

I have a very diverse practice and value my clients from all backgrounds and beliefs.

What happens during the first session?

In our first sessions, we’ll get to know each other, establish trust, build a therapeutic relationship, and look at your goals. We may even dive into some skill-building in initial sessions if it feels right.

It is completely normal to feel somewhat uncomfortable at first, but I will do everything in my power to make you feel valued, respected, validated, and understood so that we can develop a supportive and helpful relationship for you. It may take a few sessions to begin feeling comfortable and at ease.

Does anyone cry in front of you?
Sometimes, clients cry in front of me, and sometimes I cry with them. Change only comes when we’re vulnerable.
Do I have to tell you everything?
I hope we will develop a strong and trusting relationship that will make you feel safe and heard no matter what you tell me. But the content of our sessions is entirely up to you.
Do you offer video or phone sessions?
I have an active virtual practice. Our connection can be strong whether we meet virtually or in person.
Do couples fight in front of you?
Of course. It’s actually a great way for us to break down conflict and build better communication skills.
Are you licensed?
Yes. I am licensed as an LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) in New Jersey.
What apps make your life better?

My go-to apps are the Calm, Spotify, Audible, and Kindle.

Chicken or the egg?
I have a strong opinion on this question but will keep it to myself.
